For this trick you have to chose the key in this case C, then you make two patterns, the major notes will be on the first pattern and the minor chords will be on the second patterns, also the diminished note will the on the minor chord pattern.
In this example the Major and the Minor Key patterns are shown.
The diminished note will always be on the minor pattern.
